So…the past few weeks have been filled with some serious writer’s block over here. I have opened so many blank word documents, only to close them again with absolutely nothing written. Seriously frustrating. I’m guessing it’s because I’ve had a lot on my mind – I can’t keep it focused on something long enough to actually accomplish anything. Meh. But, the only way to work through a writer’s block is to simply start writing. Nothing is going to happen unless I start putting words on the page.
It’s gloriously cool outside today. My northern blood is absolutely loving it. I’m sitting on the couch right now with the window propped open, and a gentle cool breeze is wafting through the room. It feels so fresh. I love it. The cold invigorates me, reenergizes me, and yet brings a sense of peace and relaxation at the same time. In my mind, this is proof that I really belong on a mountain somewhere. Preferably a snow covered, skiable mountain.
This wonderful cool breeze is working in the same way the Holy Spirit does. When he comes, not only does he bring new strength and energy, but also peace and serenity.
It’s funny how the Lord can use something as simple as a cool, refreshing breeze to remind me of the Holy Spirit. I believe that He likes to remind us of his love and goodness in the little things of life because we have to be paying close attention in order to see. Very rarely does the Lord use big flashing signs to get our attention. That would be too easy, too obvious. We have to be in tune with what he is speaking to our hearts individually, and become more aware of the little things going on around us in order to pick up the details. He likes it when we pay attention to the details, I think.
If you are waiting on a sign from the Lord or an answer to your prayer, I would encourage you to find a quiet place and simply wait on Him. Listen to him carefully, and pay attention to the little things. Today I needed encouragement, and for me, that came in the form of a cool breeze to remind me that the Holy Spirit is always with me. I can’t see him, but I can feel him, just as I can feel this wonderful breeze wafting through the room. Cool, refreshing, invigorating, peaceful, and serene.
