“In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.”
-Proverbs 16:9
Thankful Thursday
Hello! Hope you all are having a great week so far. It’s been very chilly here [yay], but no more ice storms, which is good, I suppose. Seeing as it is Thursday, I thought I would do a quick Thankful Thursday post – it’s been a little while since my last one, and there have definitely been some things to be thankful for over the past few weeks ☺
5. Spending a long Thanksgiving weekend in Florida with my family. I was expecting to see my parents, brother and grandma, but was completely surprised to see my aunt and uncle, who traveled all the way from New Zealand to spend the holiday with us! Best surprise ever. It was so great to spend time with family!
Less Talk, More Action
“All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” – Proverbs 14:23
Well this was an unexpected kick-in-the-pants. When I opened my Bible this morning, I was not expecting such a relevant piece of wisdom to come flying off the page, landing in the deep areas of my heart.
In other words, you can talk about something as much as you want, but until you start working hard towards that certain something, you’re not going to accomplish much. Hard work equals profit, while mere talk leads to poverty. It’s a fairly simple concept, yet one that is so much harder to implement in our daily lives.

Face Your Fears, Accomplish Your Dreams
Sometimes I feel like all motivation, drive and will-power have been sucked from my very bones. I feel lethargic and exhausted when I think about how difficult the tasks before me will be to ever accomplish. I become discouraged by the looming mountain that is my dream, and, to ward off feelings of panic and depression, decide to do absolutely nothing about said mountain.
But, just as a mountain can’t be climbed by simply staring at it hopefully, neither can a dream be accomplished without action. One of my biggest fears in life is that I will lose all motivation, forget my vision, and lose sight of my dreams. That I’ll become so far removed from what I desire most to accomplish, that I no longer care about the outcome. This fear activates a level of panic inside of me that few other things can reach.
A Thankful Thanksgiving
Hello! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a great long weekend. Mine was wonderful – got to spend some quality time with the family in Florida – my only complaint is that it went by all too quickly! But I suppose that is how vacations tend to go.
The Key To Breaking Down Your Walls
We perceive the world around us through a particular lens, one that we uniquely craft for ourselves based on our past life experiences.
Sometimes, our past life experiences cause us to build walls up around ourselves, blocking out the outside world, relationships and people of any kind. We take on a mentality of rejection, which causes us to shut down and put the walls up even higher so we feel protected and safe from the hurt other people might cause us. But, it’s pretty hard to live life with your walls up all the time. Makes it difficult to see what’s going on around you. Makes creating real relationships with people next to impossible.

Thankful Thursday
So…it’s been a couple weeks since my last Thankful Thursday post, so I thought I would bring it back this week! It’s always a good reminder, at least for me, to remember to be thankful for the little things God is doing in my life instead of just watching and waiting on the big things to unfold. He is doing something new and good every single day – even if it feels monotonous at the time, it’s important to remember the little things.
5. Awesome family. My sister in law in getting married this weekend, and I am so incredibly excited for her and her soon-to-be husband. I wish we lived closer so I could have helped more with the planning, but I know everything will come together perfectly. It will be nice to see family again, something I definitely miss in living so far away from everyone.
Are You Easily Distracted?
Hello! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It’s so WARM here; it feels like summer – 85 degrees, clear and sunny. Kind of strange for November 17th, but it is what it is I suppose. Even though I would much prefer some snow, I can’t be too upset with 85 and sunny☺
Anyways, earlier this week I was looking for something new to read in the Bible – I had just been reading random passages as they came to me – and decided to start reading through Proverbs. I’ve read Proverbs before, but never really read through everything slowly, taking time to process all the little nuggets of wisdom.

5 Ways To Beat Procrastination For Good
I don’t know about you, but for me, procrastination is a huge problem. Always has been. In high school and college I would put things off until the very last minute, waiting until the night before an important project or paper was due to start working on it. I wouldn’t say I did this because I was lazy necessarily, but more because I had other, ‘more important’ things on my mind. I could spend hours working on random irrelevant projects, but when it came down to the things that really mattered, I’ve always had a hard time planning further ahead than the night before a due date. Thankfully I do very well with deadlines, and am a fast worker. If something needs to be done by tomorrow, I’ll have it done. But I may not start working on it until tonight. Anyone else out there find this familiar? Goodness, I hope I’m not the only one.
