Hello! Hope you all are having a great week so far. I got back from a girls weekend in Chicago late Sunday night, so I’m still dragging a little bit from that today. The trip was totally worth any tiredness though. I had forgotten how much I truly love Chicago. My mom, aunt and I have been taking annual [sometimes semi-annual] trips to the windy city since I was in high school, and I have so many great memories from our numerous adventures. I always look forward to our time together exploring the city!

Why I’ve Decided To Stop Trying
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”
1 Corinthians 9:24-27

25 Things for an Intentional Year 25
So. Yesterday I turned the big 2-5. I know, I know, 25 isn’t that old, but to me, it feels old. One quarter of a century down. Already done with college, working, moved across the country, married. All those things still seem so far away in my mind, yet I know that they are true. They’ve already happened. I love my life, don’t get me wrong. I just can’t believe that I’m already 25. That age always seemed so incredibly old when I was growing up. I thought I would have my whole life figured out by this point – how little I knew back then!

The Power of Paying Close Attention
Hello! Hope you all have had a wonderful weekend. The weather has been absolutely perfect here – high sixties and sunny! I love it! If I can’t have snow, this is a great alternative ☺
It’s been a pretty low key weekend over here, which was much needed. Saturday night we went to this awesome restaurant in Fort Worth with some friends called Joe T Garcia’s. Let me tell you – best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time. Amazing chips and salsa too! And the majority of the restaurant was outside in a garden-like area with lots of plants, fountains, etc. – so cool! I would definitely recommend it.

We Already Have Everything We Need
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Grapevine Lake – Grapevine, Texas
Hello! Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend so far. It has been beautiful here in Texas – sunny and 73 degrees today! Not quite like the January’s I am used to, but if I can’t have snow, this is next best for sure. James and I got to get out and do a little bit of hiking/walking around Grapevine Lake this morning, which was really fun! Grapevine Lake is really beautiful, and is actually really close to our apartment – bonus!

One Small Goal at a Time Leads to Success
Hello! Hope you all are having a wonderful start to your 2014! I’m still getting used to writing 14 instead of 13 – it always takes me a little while to adjust. So, after further consideration of my list of goals for this coming year, I’ve come to the conclusion that some of them are quite lofty. In fact, I’ve already failed at several of them. Ha. But you know what? I’m okay with that. I realize that I am only human, and that I will never be perfect at everything. I will fail time and time again, and yet, I have learned to be okay with that. Because God teaches me just as much through the failures as he does through the successes. The successes are undoubtedly more fun, but the failures are most definitely necessary.

Merry Christmas!
Hello! Hope you all are having a wonderful week so far, and are enjoying time with your families and friends during this Christmas season. With all the craziness and business that comes along with the season, it’s important to take a step back and remember the real reason that we celebrate – the birth of Jesus.
If Jesus hadn’t come to Earth on Christmas all those years ago, our lives would look a lot different today than they do now. Thanks to Jesus, we don’t have to live in our sin, but can have the hope and promise of eternal life with him in heaven. What better Christmas gift could we ever ask for?
I always love reading the Christmas story this time of year, so I thought I would share it with you share it with you right here on the blog. This version is from the book of Luke, and is definitely my favorite. So, with that said, please read, and remember the real reason for the season – Jesus!

Wrong Way or Right Way?
“There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.”
– Proverbs 14:12
Sometimes the wrong way is disguised as the right way, enticing us to follow down the incorrect path, leading us deeper into sin. We see our peers in the world on the path beside us, and blindly assume we are on the right track. If everyone else is doing it, then it must be okay for us to join is as well, right?
