“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Learn To Trust God More Than Yourself.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
How many times do you try and do something entirely on your own, only to end up failing to complete the task?
Or, have you ever tried to answer a specific question, only to realize you don’t actually have a decent answer?
Happens to me all the time.

Are You A People Pleaser?
“Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
– Galatians 1:10
Ever have those moments where you read something you’ve read countless times, but for some reason it really sticks out to you this time around? I experience those moments all the time. I guess that’s one thing I really love about scripture – you can read it over and over again, and still receive fresh revelation and insight from it. When I was reading from Galatians this morning, I had one of those moments, and I had to stop and really ask myself – who am I trying to please? Am I a people pleaser?

How Water Baptism Changed My Life!
Hello! How was your weekend? Great? Mine was better than great. Why? Because I got baptized on Saturday night at Gateway Church! It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for quite awhile, but just never took the opportunity to do until this weekend. And what’s more, my husband, James, was able to be the one to do it! It was so amazing to be able to share this experience with him – it is something I will definitely never forget!
Quite honestly I had a long list of excuses and reasons not to get baptized in my head, but I finally decided to ignore those negative thoughts and [quite literally] take the plunge! Baptism isn’t a means for salvation – that only comes through a personal relationship with Christ – but it is so very important to living a Christian lifestyle.
Don’t Give Up On The Impossible.
Hello! Happy Sunday, and Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there! I so wish I could be home in Michigan with my mom (and dad—it is his birthday today too!) today, but we have a Skype date later, so I guess that will have to suffice. Meanwhile, I have my little kitten-child to keep me company here in Texas…
Your Will Be Done.
Hello! Hope you all are having a great Tuesday so far. Can you believe it’s April already? Craziness I tell you. Did you all have a wonderful Easter? James and I ended up going to church on Saturday night instead of Sunday morning–Gateway Church can get really busy on Easter Sunday–and we both really enjoyed the service. It was strange not being in Michigan for Easter with family, but overall we had a great day!
Throughout the days leading up to Easter last week I read Matthew’s account of what happened on those days so very long ago. It was awesome to read what Jesus was going through during those days, and what he ultimately did for us in dying on the cross for our sins. One verse in particular stuck out to me as I was reading…
“He went a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
Matthew 26:39

Trials and Temptations.
Good Morning! Hope you all are having a great Thursday so far. How do you like the new blog layout? I’ve been working on it the past few days, and have been learning a lot as I go. I know it is definitely not perfect, but it’s getting there! Thanks so much for hanging in there while I make these changes. I’m hoping to start adding in some new categories and angles to the blog, so stayed tuned for that!
This morning I was reading in 1 Corinthians, and came across one of my favorites passages of scripture…
“And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way for you to stand up under it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13b
God doesn’t promise us an easy, perfect, temptation-free life. We live in a broken, fallen world, and there is nothing we can do about that fact—we are always going to have trials and temptations of some kind. But, he does promise that we will not be tempted beyond what we can bear. And when we are tempted, he will always provide a way for us to overcome that temptation. Just because we are tempted, doesn’t mean we have to give into said temptation. We may think that there is no other way out, but God promises us that he will provide a way for us to overcome what ever trial or temptation we may be facing.
Don’t give up. Even when life seems so hard, and you don’t think it is possible for you to go on, remember God’s promises to you. He won’t let you be tempted or tested more than you can bear, and he will always provide a way for you to overcome. Be encouraged!
Well, I hope you all have a great rest of your day. I’m off to check some things off my to-do list before the weekend rolls around…yay! God Bless:)
Salvation.
Good Morning! Hope you all are having a great Tuesday so far! I’m sorry I haven’t been posting as frequently lately. I really want to give the blog a new, more exciting feel, and have been doing a lot of [time consuming] brainstorming to get that all rolling. Hopefully you will start seeing some new features popping up soon here on the blog, but in the meantime, I thank you for your patience!
Anyways, I thought I would share something I read from 1 Corinthians yesterday that I found to be very interesting…
“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.”
1 Corinthians 1:27-29

Hold on to His Promises.
Good Morning and Happy Tuesday! Hope you all are having a great day so far. Woke up to a text from my mom this morning saying that it’s snowing in Grand Rapids (MI)…needless to say I was a little jealous. Although it is sunny here and going to be in the sixties, I still miss my cold snowy winters. I heart snow. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to make do with the sun for awhile:)
This morning I was reading again in Genesis, and came across a well-known story that really spoke volumes to me today. The past couple of weeks have been a bit rocky for me. It was great having my family here, yet it was so sad to see them leave. I feel kind of stuck where I’m at in life, and it has caused me to be discouraged. I feel as though God has promised me so many things, yet nothing really seems to be happening. Sad, discouraged, frustrated. Ever felt that way before?

Waiting Patiently.
Good Morning! How is your Monday going so far? Mine has been going well—I have the day off work, but lots and lots of errands and things around the house to get done today. Fighting hard to be productive, if you know what I mean:)
Anyways, I thought I would share a Psalm that I read this morning. It was written by David during a difficult season of his life, and his words really stuck out to me this morning…
“How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrows in my heart? How long will my enemies triumph over me?
Look on me and answer, O Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death; my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for he has been good to me.”
Psalms 13.
