Hello and Happy Friday! Hope you all are having a great day so far. It’s kinda gloomy here—definitely a good day to cuddle up with a good book and a warm kitty:) This week has been crazy busy for some reason, so I am definitely looking forward to the weekend. Although I wish my family was coming to visit again, like they did last weekend. Ah well, I’m sure we will all see each other again soon. How about you? Any fun plans for the weekend?
Thought I would share something I read from Genesis yesterday about Lot and his family, and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. When Sodom was being destroyed, God rescued Lot’s family. As they were hastily leaving the city, God’s messengers told Lot’s family not to look back on the city or they would surely die. Seems like a simple command, but unfortunately, Lot’s wife decided to look back…
“But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.”
Genesis 19:26
God was serious when he told them not to look back upon the burning city. Even though the city was burning to the ground, beyond restoration, Lot’s wife still felt the need to turn around and look back. Why? Because she just couldn’t let go of the past. She didn’t really want to leave it all behind. She wasn’t willing to let go, and move on to a new and better future with God. She allowed her past to get in the way of her future, causing her to become stuck where she was.
We may not be turned into pillars of salt like Lot’s wife was, but we can be guilty of the same scenario. Have you ever felt stuck in your past? Not quite willing to let it go, or constantly thinking about how things might have turned out differently if you would have chosen another path? Those are the kind of thoughts that are keeping you from your future in Christ. They are keeping you from reaching your full potential and destiny. Choose today to let the past go, and move forward into the future God has prepared for you. Whatever your past life might have looked like can in no way compare to what God has in store for you in the future. All you have to do is let go.
Well, I’m off to go do a few things before work. I hope you all have a great day and a blessed weekend! God Bless:)
